Geared toward Brownies, Juniors, Cadets, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts
Microbot Soldering: Saturday, December 1st- 12:30-2pm and 2:30-4pm
Make your own Microbot! Scouts will solder together a light sensing micro bot. Soldering procedure, safety, fixing mistakes, robot sensors, transistors and resistors will be covered in the class. Scouts must pre-register. Ages 8+. Cost $15 (includes museum admission & Fun Patch).
Forensic Science: The Fishing Creek Mystery: Saturday, January 12th- 1:00-3:00pm
Scouts assume the role of crime scene investigators as they conduct experiments. use their observational skills and deductive reasoning to solve a realistic crime scenario: An Environmental Disaster. Scouts must pre-register. Ages 9+. Cost $15 (includes museum admission & Fun Patch).
Kitchen Chemistry: Saturday, February 2nd- 1:00-3:00pm
What do all those ingredients in a cupcake really do? Scouts will investigate the chemistry of cupcakes by altering recipes to identify what ingredients do. ALLERGY ALERT* This session will have chocolate, wheat products, dairy and eggs. Scouts must pre-register .Ages 6+. Cost $15 (includes museum admission & Fun Patch).
Secrets Codes and Cyphers: Saturday, February 16th- 1:00-2:30pm
In this session scouts will learn basic secret codes and cyphers. They will then use their skills to crack open a mysterious locked-box and retrieve the prize inside! Scouts must pre-register. Ages 6+. Cost $15 (includes museum admission & Fun Patch).
Laser Cutting 101: Saturday, March 2nd- 1:00-3:00pm
Learn how a laser cutter works, laser cutter safety, design and produce your own creation. Scouts must pre-register. Ages 6+. Cost $15 (includes museum admission & Fun Patch).
Call the Children’s Museum (570-389-9206) to prepay and reserve your Scout’s spot. The museum must have a copy of the completed registration form before taking payment.
Cancellation: If you cancel no less than two weeks prior to the class, you will receive a 50% refund to cover processing fees. No refund will be given if you cancel within two weeks of the class date.
Snow Policy: If weather conditions are poor and the museum is forced to close, parents will be notified by 8am that morning. A make-up class will be offered or full refund will be given.
Adult and sibling policy: If attending as a troop, 2 adults may stay with the groups of 8 or more at no charge, 1 adult may stay with groups of 4-7 at no charge. Additional adults must pay regular museum admission. Siblings of students attending the class must also pay museum admission.
