Infant – Preschool Classes/Programs

PreK Family Yoga Camp *NEW*

March 6th-9th 10:15-11a.m.

Parents will practice yoga with their preschoolers (ages 3-5), learning tips and tricks for having some yoga fun with your child at home. Includes simple postures, breathing games, songs and relaxation techniques good for little ones. Taught by professional yoga instructor, Sara Bowman. Registration required. $50/child. Member discount applies.

PAINT ME A STORY

This Saturday morning storytime-art-studio-mashup for ages 3-5  ignites preschoolers’ imaginations for creating hands-on art activities  based on colorful book themes and characters. Build language skills, color recognition, and small motor skills. Call the museum to RSVP. Free with regular admission. Adult must stay with child during program.

Music Together® Family Classes

8 class sessions run from Friday, Mar. 16th to May 4th at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. This internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program is led by certified music teacher, Kerry Kenny.  Music Together® stimulates a love for music, movement, and learning in children ages newborn to kindergarten and the adults who love them. Wiggling, singing, and laughing with your child is so much fun—it’s easy to forget how much learning is taking place!  Music CD & Songbook included. Registration required. Join Folk’s Farm at the museum in experiencing a live butterfly enclosure. Learn all about the life cycle of these winged beauties with hands-on activities.

 

Families with Special Needs Night

Friday, January 26th 6-8p.m.

During this unique program, the museum is open just for families with special needs. Extra staff will be on hand to help you and your family get the most out of the museum’s exhibits and activities. Admission is FREE for families with special needs members. All ages welcome.

 

“Sit Next to Me” Film Festival with Box of Light

Saturday, Feb. 17th 3p.m.

Wouldn’t it be nice to hear a positive, interesting, heartfelt, sad, weird, and even funny sharing about what separates us and what brings us together? This film festival presented by Box of Light and WVIA public media will screen winning films from student, teen, and adult categories. Discount admission $5/person. All ages welcome.

 

Bloomsburg Children’s Museum LEGO Expo

March 16th, 5-7p.m.

Join the Central Columbia Junior Jay Bots and area FIRST Lego League Jr clubs for a LEGO expo! This year’s LEGO challenge is Aqua Adventure. Kids will showcase their team projects they have been working on that involve water quality, water sources and keeping our water clean. We will also have some LEGO activities, other area LEGO clubs and door prizes. Discounted admission is $2/person.

 

3rd Annual Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire

Saturday April 21st 10a.m. – 4p.m.

The Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire is a Children’s Museum-organized event that is part of the global Maker Faire network created by MAKE Magazine. According to MAKE, “Maker Faire is the greatest show (and tell) on Earth – a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.” The event brings together amateur and professional inventors, artists, crafters, engineers and performers in a combination of large spectacles and communal interactive experiences. Admission is free, sponsored by Merck.

Third Tuesday of the month, $2 admission all day! The Exchange will host hands-on Art Cart projects 10-2pm.

 

HOMESCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION *NEW*

Tuesdays 1p.m. Bi-weekly.

Have fun and stay healthy this winter! Certified PE instructor, Katie Rude, leads students in games and activities that focus on moderate to vigorous physical activity. Students of all ages are welcome in this class. Parents are required to stay with children under 5. Classes are $8/child per session or purchase a punch card for ten sessions for $60. Call to register, walk-ins welcome on first come first served basis. Jan. 2, Jan. 16, Jan. 30th, Feb. 13, and Feb. 27th are upcoming session dates.
