Today’s Feature: Catawissa Creek Restoration Association

We’re proud to feature this nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and protecting the Catawissa Creek watershed. For over 25 years, the Catawissa Creek Restoration Association (CCRA) has worked to improve water quality and combat acid mine drainage through innovative, limestone-based treatment systems.

Their efforts have led to the creation of multiple treatment sites that now address the majority of pollution entering the creek—and the results are making a real impact. Today, residents are beginning to see aquatic life return to the waterway, a powerful sign of recovery and hope.

In addition to water restoration, CCRA is also focused on enhancing the surrounding environment by incorporating wildflowers and improving riparian areas along the creek.
