Today’s Feature: Author Bonnie Swinehart LLC
From a young age, Bonnie Swinehart knew she wanted to be a writer. After enrolling in a writing course through the Institute of Children’s Literature, her dream began to take shape, leading to her first published children’s story, “Nature’s Hiding Places” in Nature Friend magazine. Bonnie’s path eventually took her to a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism, where she served as Assistant Editor of her college newspaper. Her career then blossomed in nonprofit environmental print and media, where her work reached thousands through the Environmental Fund of PA, Greenworks TV, and the PA Organization of Watersheds and Rivers.
Bonnie’s passion for storytelling led her back to her roots in newspaper reporting, where she spent several years capturing local stories. Today, though no longer a full-time reporter, she continues to share her love for storytelling through a weekly column showcasing local events and human interest stories.
A few years ago, after much dedication and research, Bonnie’s dream of publishing a children’s chapter book came to life with the release of “Benjy and the Belsnickel,” inspired by her parents’ childhood memories. This marked the beginning of her beloved “Benjy” series, followed by “Benjy and the County Fair” and a Study Guide to accompany the first book. Bonnie is excited to share her stories with readers young and old and invites you to stop by her booth at Maker Fest to discover more about her books and the inspiration behind them!
