Students in grades 1-12 (students are grouped by age to work on their projects) are invited to design & build a ridiculous, multi-step ‘machine’ to perform one simple task. The machines will compete in the Rube Goldberg Challenge Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Central Columbia Elementary School.
Museum teams will meet on Wednesdays (February 21, 28, March 6, 13, 20, 27, and April 3rd) from 6-7:30 pm to create the contraption for the competition. These crazy contraptions popularized by Rube Goldberg promote STEM concepts and teach hands-on physics of ‘simple machines’ using humor & scientific persistence.
